Friendships Tested on the RHOA Reunion Show

This season, the RHOA reunion show aired in three segments.  Of course they saved the true drama for last night.  Despite the fact that it was drawn out, I loved the all-white attire worn by the cast members.  Plus, the bulk of the conversation was truly all about Nene.
Here are three things you can learn from this show that could potentially help you fix issues in your relationships.

1.    My sister said it best as we were watching the reunion show- Hurt People, Hurt People.  Nene was truly a woman who was hurting from childhood pains that caused her to love hard and fight hard.  Talk about a woman with punchlines and shade for days.  But this season, it was clear that Nene separated herself from the rest of the girls because she was hurt from what she had been through and just being feed up with the majority of the other girls.  Being around hurt people and not aware of it, can potentially harm you.  Usually hurt people show signs of jealously, insecurities, bullying, and depression or seem overly confident.

2.    I could not mention Nene without saying something about her friendship with Cynthia.  You can tell that these two still care and love one another.  But it also teaches you a valuable lesson about friendships when it comes to staying in your lane and not becoming too comfortable with someone else’s spouse.  Nene’s inappropriate name calling to Cynthia’s husband destroyed their friendship.  But when Nene had an emotionally breakdown during the reunion show, Cynthia put their differences aside and went to comfort Nene.  All this to say, as much as it hurts Cynthia to not have Nene as a close friend, for her own sanity it’s sometimes best to love a friend from a distance.
3.    Nene & Kenya: Typically when you bump heads with someone, it’s one of two things: they have something in common with you or they want something that you have. Let’s just say, when it came to Nene & Kenya it was always portrayed that one woman always wanted what the other one had whether it boiled downed to friends or career aspirations.  But we learned that this all flipped during the reunion when Nene had an emotional meltdown and Kenya learned that they actually had one thing in common.  Besides the fact that these were two strong willed women, they both suffered from feeling abandonment from their mom.
Overall, understand from Nene’s situation, that you have to find a way to deal with relationship issues from your past.  If not, they will continually spill over into new relationships.  It’s so much easier for women to dress up and hide behind their pain as if it never existed or their not affected by it.  But, once you deal with the issues, you’ll be a better woman.
