There are always obvious signs or what I like to refer to
as “the writings on the walls” that serve as a clear indication that you just
might be indulging in a potentially controlling relationship.
It turns out that usually, that thing that
attracted you to your man may turn out to be the one thing he uses to control
you.
All women have an intuition, but when we think we are in
love, we overlook the obvious signs that we are entering into a controlling
relationship. Over the years, I’ve seen
3 deadly attractions that set the foundation for controlling relationships.
1. Money- as
women we love to claim our independence (thanks to Beyonce), but behind the
hype, you’re looking for a man who can take care of you.
ü Avoid
being manipulated by money. Every woman
wants to be financially set for life to take care of their family, enjoy
vacations and have the finer things in life.
But, being attracted to a man for his money can ultimately hold you
captive in a controlling relationship.
ü If a
man feels you are with him for his money, he’ll find a way to use it against
you and get away with murder when it comes to being faithful or exhibiting
other acts of respect. And like some
women, you’ll fall victim to accepting your man’s cheating ways in order to
maintain your comfortable lifestyle.
2. Religion- don’t fall victim to the all-mighty use of religion.
ü A
man with too much power is dangerous.
Religion
is a powerful tool that too often is abused and used to manipulate you into believing
and doing things in the name of faith.
Beware… it’s so easy for religious doctrine to be misinterpreted by men for
their own benefit. Likewise, you’ll be
brainwashed into believing and doing things that makes absolutely no sense and
goes against your personal morals.
3 Compliments-
give a woman a compliment and you’ve won the key to her soul. Be careful ladies, it’s the oldest
controlling trick in the book. A
compliment doesn’t cost a thing, but for a woman who suffers from low
self-esteem, it is very easy for a man to control you with words.
Once a man knows he’s won your heart
just by saying nice things and then he graduates to telling you what to wear,
he knows he has control over you and your self-identity. Soon, he’ll have no problem twisting those
same compliments into harsh sayings to use against you.
